You can be in an elegant-looking bungalow in this Little England if you are a true Royal family lover. So here is a little listing as a guide for it.

Cheltenham Bungalow – Nuwara eliya bungalows

No. 6 Haddon Hill Road, Nuwara Eliya 22200, Sri Lanka

The “Chelthnam” is about 500 meters from Nuwara Eliya. Anyone can take advantage of the clean air, spring water from a natural spring, terrace farming, bird and butterfly watching, and the beauty of endemic plants.

This modest exterior concealed royal majesty inside. The bedrooms had firm four-poster beds, classily draped windows, brick fireplaces, and, in keeping with the neighborhood. It has pride and caretakers with the best story to share.

The down-to-earth Mr. Cook served us the most delicious food in the most charming dining room. They are gorgeous and extremely laid-back. Because there are many rooms, extensive grounds, and you have your cook, it’s an excellent place for family vacations. Since my clients are all about experiencing and photographing the real Sri Lanka, I would include this historic site in the photography tours I lead there.

Gregory’s Bungalow

109 Upper Lake Road, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka

Given that it is right next to Gregory’s lake, the location is quite pleasant. The bungalow’s architecture is lovely and has good furnishings and a well-kept lawn. The rooms are a good size and are nicely furnished. You have a lovely balcony with views of the lake and tea gardens on two sides.

On the other hand, the internet is only available close to the lunch counter and is quite unreliable.

There isn’t an intercom in the space, so you’ll have to look for any assistance you require. Additionally, there is no reception per se, so you are left to cross your fingers and hope to run into someone when you need something. The breakfast is fine. They give you fruit, eggs, and toast with butter and jam.

Senani Colonial Holiday Bungalow

Former prime ministers and ministers have stayed in this colonial-era home, which is tucked away but elevated among other buildings. Wolfgang, whom we never met, is the property owner, and Majeed is in charge of it. The entire bungalow was exclusively ours. There are four bedrooms, each with its bathroom, and a lounge with a nice TV and a fireplace that can light on demand. There is a lovely terrace where you can relax with a drink, and the terraced hillside is home to a huge variety of vegetables (worth a 5 min discovery walk). The breakfast and dinner were excellent (egg and potato curry, chicken curry, salads, etc.)

We had a stay in Nuwara Eliya that was definitely worth the trouble of planning a trip there, thanks to the modern facilities, the knowledgeable but accommodating caretaker, and the breathtaking views. The Bezel Bungalow, which is close to town on a quiet hill, gave me a unique upcountry experience that can be enjoyed by both groups of people and solo travelers. The host showed genuine concern for our needs and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and at ease during our stay.

You can enjoy a well-prepared dinner with a background of the twinkle-light-lit town, a morning stroll through the tea plantation, an evening tea while watching the sun set over the town of Nuwara Eliya, or any combination of these activities. I recommend it to someone looking for a genuine upcountry experience and would love to return.
